Broader Impacts

Mentoring Educators Today for ATE Tomorrow

See how Mentor-Connect has advanced the growth of Advanced Technological Education (ATE) program funded projects via the interactive maps linked below. Visitors can also view our list of community college teams that have participated in Mentor-Connect mentorship and have received a National Science Foundation (NSF) ATE Grant Award.

Mentor-Connect Interactive Maps

Mentor-Connect has collaborated with the National Geospatial Technology Center of Excellence (GeoTech Center) at Jefferson Community and Technical College to develop interactive maps that illustrate program information, including participating colleges, their funding awards, and all projects funded by the NSF ATE Program.

The maps are housed on two separate sites. The Mentor-Connect Cohort site provides information about proposals developed with Mentor-Connect mentoring and technical assistance.  The NSF ATE Funded Projects site provides similar information about all projects funded by the ATE Program. Maps include data since 2013, the first year Mentor-Connect assisted colleges with obtaining NSF ATE funding awards.

To view the maps, follow the links provided below, then allow a moment for the data to load.  Click on the Legend and the Layers icons located in the top left corner of the screen to access the interactive functions.

The maps were developed to demonstrate the extent to which Mentor-Connect has stimulated submission of ATE proposals from two-year colleges in new locations.  They also inform NSF on the impact of Mentor-Connect in the submission and funding of small grants for institutions new to ATE in the context of all funded ATE Projects.

Mentor-Connect Cohorts

The Mentor-Connect Cohorts website displays locations for all colleges, listed by cohort, that have participated in the Mentor-Connect project. Not all participants submitted ATE proposals.  Click on a point to access the name of the college.  If the college submitted a proposal, additional information will be displayed, including the name of the Principal Investigator assigned to the project.

NSF ATE Funded Projects

The NSF ATE Funded Projects lists locations for colleges that have received Mentor-Connect grant-writing support (mainly in the Small, New-to-ATE category), other Small-New-to-ATE projects, and larger ATE projects. Select a point to view the college, NSF grant number, proposal title, funding awarded, and assigned Principal Investigator. A separate attribute table lists this information for all colleges in each of the three categories.

Important Note:

1. Maps may take a moment to load the data.

2. After the map has loaded, click on the Legend  bi maps image1  and the Layers  bi maps image2  icons on the top left corner of the screen to access the interactive functions.
